Tanushree Dutta was born on 19^th March 1984 in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand in a Bengali Hindu Family Her father is Tappan and he is an officer in Life Insurance Corporation of India. She studied at a Boarding school  at Pune and studied in Brihan Maharashtrian Collage  at Bombay to get the degree in Communications. Dutta won the Femina Miss India 2004 competition held on Mumbai; subsequently she won the title of Femina Miss India Universe 2004 and represente India at Miss Universe 2004 Quito,Ecuador  where placed in the Top 10.
